How did I get exposed?

Bed bugs can infect any area where people spend significant periods of time in stationary or near stationary conditions.  They tend to be most prevalent in and around bedroom furniture but they can be literally anywhere.

Over the past 7 years infestations have been reported in the following types of places:

· Domestic properties

· Hotels

· Hostels

· Prisons

· Commercial and Domestic vehicles

· Public transport (all types)

· Aircraft

· Offices

· Cinema’s and theatres

· Restaurants

The simple fact is that they can be anywhere that people visit or occupy.  That is not to say that all of these places are infested but it does illustrate that they could be a problem.

The longer you spend in an infected location and the greater the infestation the greater the chance that they will hitch hike out of the property or location with you.  Yes they can spread that easily.
