Bed Bug Bites

The degree to which people respond to bed bug bites varies dramatically.  For some people a bite may disappear within a matter of hours while others reporting itching for weeks or raised inflammation several centimeters in diameter.

We have deliberately not included images of bites because they vary too much and are not definitive signs of an infestation.

Sweet sickly smell

Some people can detect a sweet sickly smell when an infestation of BedBugs is present.  This does take a while to build up and you may not be aware of it if you are a regular occupant of the room.

Bed bugs are pest of exposure, they have lived along side humanity since the times we lived in caves.  Back in the 1930-1950’s they were very common pests and could be found in most homes.

In recent years they have made a massive comeback and are one of the fastest growing pest problems of modern times.  Although many people only know them from nursery rhymes and children’s books they are defiantly back with a vengeance.

They have nothing to do with living conditions and are more likely to effect people who travel either on business or pleasure.

The most detectable signs of a bed bug infestation are:

· Being bitten (although not everyone responds)

· The presence of fecal traces

· The presence of cast skins, eggs and live samples

· Blood spots on your sheets (not always present)

· A faint sweet sickly smell (not always detectable)
